Scene-based lighting

What does scene-based lighting mean, at least in this context? Scene-based lighting is when you group a number of separate lights in your home for the purpose of controlling them together.

Imagine a scene called Bed Time. Rather than walk around the house turning off three different lights, you would just activate the Bed Time scene, and those three lights would turn off. In addition to lights you want to turn off, you could also turn some others on. Maybe the hallway to light the way to the bedroom, and the bedroom light itself.

Another common example is Movie Lights. Maybe you want the family room lights to dim to 50%, the hallway light to turn off, and the kitchen lights to dim to 20%. If you had standard dimmers on those lights you could walk around and do that manually, sure, but it is far more efficient and repeatable with scene-based lighting.

These are just two simple examples of scene-based lighting. When you also consider the possibility of additional actions, like locking the front door or arming your alarm, the possibilities are endless.
